Dr. Hernando Carter is Founder, CEO and President of Prescription for Better Living.
Prescription for Better Living, a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization, works to improve health equity through the promotion of health careers to those from underrepresented backgrounds, providing health education to the community and by supporting programs that work to address the social determinants of health.
Dr. Carter received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA where he graduated cum laude. He received his Medical Degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, AL.  He completed his Internal medicine residency at Carraway Hospital and Baptist Medical Center. He served a year as Chief Medicine Resident at Carraway Hospital.
Dr. Carter is a physician practicing Internal Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Whitaker Clinic in Birmingham, AL.  Dr. Carter is a proud native of Birmingham, AL.  He was educated in the Birmingham City Schools where he graduated from A.H. Parker High School.
